According to Research, Infrastructure Matters More Than Talent...
Noticed this?
Based on research into emerging startup ecosystems (particularly 2024-2026), one of the biggest constraints facing technical founders in Nigeria is infrastructure; access to compute, reliable technical systems m and structured operational support.
The gap is exactly why Hub One is moving deliberately to build an ecosystem that supports builders just beyond workspace.
So Here’s What’s Changing
Hub One is now technically powered by Heave Ventures; our new technical partner responsible for building out the infrastructure, systems, and AI backbone of the hub.
This partnership is what transforms Hub One from “a coworking space” into an AI-enabled innovation hub.
We’re currently working on:
Space and structure: Dedicated space renovation and structural upgrades to improve usability and collaboration (phase 1).
AI credits: Access to AI credits for builders inside our ecosystem (phase 1b).
Operational tech: Stronger digital systems and operational infrastructure to improve member experience and technical efficiency (phase 1c).
Strategic partnerships: Partnerships with select AI companies to deepen technical capability and ecosystem value (phase 1d).
AI Server infrastructure: Dedicated AI server capacity and compute resources to support builders working on AI-driven and technical projects (phase 2).
In simple terms, if you’re building anything technical, this space is being designed to support you properly.
What You Actually Get as a Member
To be clear, this isn’t about better space and WiFi. As Hub One relaunches, members will have access to:
Physical Space: Flexible desks, private rooms, meeting areas — built intentionally for focus and collaboration.
Virtual Membership: Work remotely but still plug into our ecosystem, events, advisory, and perks.
AI Infrastructure and Server Access: We’re building internal AI server capabilities and partnering with AI companies to provide compute support and credits where possible.
Technical Products: Tools and digital systems designed to help you build faster and smarter.
Advisory and Business Support: In Accounting. Legal, Operational advisory, Growth strategy, and other aspects.
And much more…
Why This Matters
You need another “workspace”, but tangible infrastructure for building, and Hub One is becoming that infrastructure. A place where:
You can build
You can access technical depth
You can get support beyond just a chair and a table
You can plug into a real innovation ecosystem
Again, we’re not positioning as just “an AI hub”, but we are an innovation hub enabling AI as a core layer while still supporting founders across tech, product, creative, and emerging industries.
If you're building something ambitious, this next version of Hub One was designed with you in mind.
More details are coming as we approach Q2 relaunch.
Happy New Month in Advance 😉
Nigeria's Shift to Data Is No Longer a Trend

The numbers tell a clear story: data is now the backbone of Nigeria’s telecom economy.
In their latest reporting cycles, MTN Nigeria and Airtel Nigeria generated a combined ₦6.782 trillion in revenue. MTN Nigeria posted ₦5.2 trillion in revenue for 2025 (up 52.9% year-on-year), with data revenue climbing 74.5% to ₦2.78 trillion, overtaking voice revenue, which grew 42.1% to ₦1.85 trillion.
Airtel Nigeria, reporting under Airtel Africa, recorded $1.13 billion (approximately ₦1.582 trillion at ₦1,400/$) from its Nigerian operations, with data revenue rising 65.4% — its fastest-growing segment.
Combined data earnings across both operators now comfortably exceed ₦3.5 trillion, confirming what’s no longer a trend but a structural shift; broadband consumption is driving the future…

In other news, Nigeria has fixed a new date for its next presidential election, marking a significant shift in the country’s electoral timeline (16th January, 2027).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced moving the vote earlier than previously scheduled, and making it the earliest in the country’s post-military democratic history.
The change follows the repeal of the Electoral Act 2022 and the introduction of a new Electoral Act 2026, which altered pre-election timelines. Governorship and state assembly elections are set for 6 February 2027.
INEC Commissioner Mohammed Haruna said parties must conduct primaries between 23 April and 30 May 2026, leaving candidates less than eight months to campaign before election day.

Trade Access and Growth Opportunities

The trade agreement launched by the African Union in 2018 removes barriers to commerce across participating countries, creating a larger regional market for businesses.
Countries like Ghana and Kenya remain attractive entry points due to stronger retail ecosystems and rising middle-class demand. The agreement (one of the world’s largest trade zones by membership and population) operates alongside global frameworks such as the World Trade Organization, but focuses on removing internal barriers to boost regional commerce.
For businesses, understanding consumer needs and local regulations is key to unlocking opportunities within this expanding market.
